Description
This is the third collection of articles from Green Left, as part of a series, by veteran Australian socialist Jim McIlroy. They deal with the ongoing fight against capitalism and for radical social and ecological change, and span the period 2015-2016,
The articles in Writings from the Frontline: Vol. 3: 2015-2016, range from coverage of key industrial struggles of the period, such as the Hutchison Ports fight by maritime workers to defend their jobs; the campaign against the sell-off of public assets by the NSW and federal Coalition governments of the time; the community battle against the disastrous WestConnex tollway in Sydney; the ongoing Aboriginal campaign for justice; solidarity with Venezuela, Cuba and Latin America against US intervention; the battle to defend and extend public housing in NSW; and a variety of other topics of workers’, community and environmental struggles of that time.
The collection covers a wide variety of topics, highlighting the vital role of Green Left as the premier socialist publication in Australia, and as an organising voice for the building of a broad, radical eco-socialist movement in this country.
